How did we become Thomson Playford Cutlers?

Thomson Playford Cutlers is a newly merged dynamic law firm. In September 2008, Thomson Playford and Cutler Hughes & Harris took advantage of an opportunity to combine two quality law firms with strong brands, clients, similar culture and growth potential. Our client focus is something that we are immensely proud of and will never take for granted. Before deciding to merge, both firms had built reputations and capabilities which enabled them to grow and expand nationally.

Thomson Playford

Thomson Playford built its reputation in Adelaide more than 120 years ago. Prior to the merger, Thomson Playford had diverse core practice areas in: Environment, Planning & Climate Change, Hospitality Registered Clubs & Gaming, and developed areas like Intellectual Property, Property & Development and Financial Services.

The Adelaide practice was named Adelaide Law Firm of The Year at the 2008 Mettle ALB Australasian Law Awards, which is Asia Pacific’s premier law awards event.

Cutler Hughes & Harris has been in the Sydney market for more than 160 years. Cutler Hughes & Harris had established expertise in: Health, Aged Care & Retirement Villages, Franchising, Tax & Superannuation, Workplace Relations and Construction law.

Cutler Hughes & Harris were finalists in the “Sydney Law Firm of the Year” category at the 2008 Mettle ALB Australasian Law Awards.
