We have a strong commitment to the personal and professional development of all of our people. Our training and development initiatives are designed to enhance the knowledge and experience of both our legal and support staff, with a focus not only on technical skills but business and behavioural competencies as well. Initiatives are designed not only on a firm wide or departmental level. Targeted development is also identified for each employee through the annual performance and development program and individual development solutions put in place.

For example, we have developed the following programs aimed at enhancing levels of skill, knowledge and experience:

New Lawyer Training

This program focuses not only on technical skills, but business and soft skills as well. Sessions on a range of topics for junior lawyers are conducted by Senior Associates and Associates throughout the year.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE)

We run inhouse legal education sessions each fortnight, covering a wide range of topics, as part of our ongoing education and development. We also encourage attendance to external seminars and conferences relevant to each practice group and individual development.

Club TP

We have a Young Practitioners Group known as Club TP. It provides a forum for lawyers (up to Senior Associate level) to raise work issues, share work experiences and exchange information regarding work and firm practices.

Post graduate study

At Thomson Playford Cutlers we encourage post graduate study and where studies are relevant to pursuits within the firm we may offer financial assistance.

Graduate Development Program

At Thomson Playford Cutlers we have a formal graduate development program which includes a rotation system to enable you gain exposure to different areas of law.
